If you want to use your parking permit with a new vehicle that you intend to keep, you will need to get a new permit. There is a different process for temporary courtesy cars.

 

E-permits

If you have an e-permit (bought via RingGo), you need to cancel your permit then buy a new one for the new vehicle.

If a refund is due on the cancelled permit then it will be applied to the card used for the original payment.

You'll be able to use your new permit straight away.

 

Paper permits

If you have a paper permit, please telephone us on 020 8545 4661 (lines are open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday).

We will give you a unique reference number, which should be written onto a photocopy of your permit and displayed clearly on the dashboard of the car. This will enable you to park your new car or to park within the different zone temporarily while your permit is being changed. Once this reference has been issued your permit will no longer be valid in your original vehicle or zone.

The reference number will be valid for 15 working days during which time you will need to send us:

  • the original existing permit
  • documentary proof of your change of vehicle or address
  • an administration fee of £10 by cheque payable to London Borough of Merton.

Alternatively you can arrange payment over the phone: please include your telephone number when sending us documents as this will enable us to contact you to arrange this.

You must send these three items as soon as possible after the issue of the reference to allow sufficient time for a new permit to be issued before the expiry of the reference.

Reference numbers cannot be extended, so if you are experiencing any difficulty in obtaining the relevant details please contact us urgently on 020 8545 4661.
