Carers Support Merton

Carers Support Merton is an independent charity that provides information, advice, and support services to local carers via the Carer's Hub.

The charity runs a range of activities and support groups for adult, young adult and young carers. Parent carers are able to attend many of the groups and activities hosted by Carers Support Merton and there are services that support former carers.

Adult Social Care

The Adult Social Care team can provide care and support to people over the age of 18 to live as well as possible with their disability, illness, or other problem. We support a range of people, including:

  • People with physical disabilities and sensory impairments 
  • People with learning disabilities
  • People with a mental health problem;
  • Older people, who require support;
  • People who have an issue with drugs or alcohol;
  • Carers.

Merton Dementia Hub

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their family and carers.

Led by Alzheimer’s Society, the Dementia Hub offers information to people who are worried about their memory and ongoing support to people affected by dementia and their carers. They provide a range of local services and group activities, which can be attended by both carers and people with dementia, helping improve their quality of life.

Staff offer support, information and guidance to help people with dementia and their carers to understand the condition, cope with day-to-day challenges, and prepare for the future. They can provide home visits, also signpost clients to other organisations and services around the community to support their independence and well-being.

Merton Mencap

Merton Mencap is an independent charity, which offers support, services, and activities to children's, young people, and adults with a learning disability or autism and their carers in the London Borough of Merton.

The group provides a range of forums to support carers of both children and adults. These groups are:

Adults first

A group for carers of adults with a learning difficulty aged 18+. This group aims to make sure the voices of carers are heard by authorities, provide information to carers to support them in their caring role, and provide opportunities for carers to meet together and enjoy a social life.

Kids first

A group for carers of children and young people aged under 25, with any disability, special need, or complex medical problem.

Kids First provides regular and free workshops, events, and training to parent carers in Merton. The group also aims to influence and improve local services by making sure the voice of carers is heard. 

Talk autism

Talk autism is a service for carers of children, young people, and adults with autism; the group Kids First manages this service. The group aims to provide an environment where carers can support ach other. 

Carers groups (Merton Mencap)

A monthly group, which provides monthly outings for carers of adults with a learning difficulty or autism who live in Merton. This group aims to provide opportunities for carers to meet up, make friends, and support each other; and to provide information and advice to carers during group activities.
