We have been successful in its bid to Transport for London (TfL) to fund safety improvements across the Borough. To improve pedestrian safety and accessibility in the Grove Road area it is proposed to introduce junction narrowing; junction entry treatments at Oakleigh Way, Bolstead Road, Warminster Way, Meopham Road and Bennetts Close at their junctions with Grove Road as shown on the plan overleaf. Double yellow lines will also be introduced at the above junctions. This will improve visibility for all road users and provide a safer environment for pedestrians when crossing at the junctions.

What happens next

A Notice of the Council's intention to introduce the above proposed measures will be published in the local newspaper and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity. All representations must in writing by no later than 29 March 2018, quoting reference Grove Road Safety improvements to Trafficandhighways@merton.gov.uk
Objections must relate only to the elements of the scheme that are subject to this statutory consultation.

Following the consultation that was carried out during 2018, the council is now implementing the improvements as detailed on the plan.

The scheme includes a junction entry treatment and junction narrowing that will improve pedestrian safety and accessibility when crossing the road and will reduce speed of approaching traffic .

Works are due to commence 1st April 2020 and are expected to take 10 days weather permitting.
Access to Bennetts Close will be available at all times and the work operatives will be practicing social distancing stringently.
