Following the statutory consultation that was carried out between 13 July and 10 August 2018, to introduce speed table and junction table and associated parking restrictions at the following junctions:

  • Berkshire Way - Speed Table.
  • South Lodge Avenue - Entry Treatment.

The Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Housing and Transport, has approved its implementation.

Please see the following web links to view the Cabinet Member decision sheet and the report detailing the feedback from the statutory consultation.

The Traffic management Order will be advertised on 6th September 2018 and implementation will follow shortly after.

We have been successful in its bid to Transport for London (TfL) to fund safety improvements across the Borough. To improve pedestrian safety and accessibility in the Galpin's Road area it is proposed to introduce junction table; junction entry treatment at Berkshire Way and South Lodge Avenue at their junctions with Galpin's Road as shown on the plan overleaf. Double yellow lines will also be introduced at the above junctions. This will improve visibility for all road users and provide a safer environment for pedestrians when crossing at the junctions.

What happens next

A Notice of the Council's intention to introduce the above proposed measures will be published in the local newspaper and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity. All representations must in writing by no later than 10 August 2018, quoting reference Galpin's Road Safety improvements to Trafficandhighways@merton.gov.uk
Objections must relate only to the elements of the scheme that are subject to this statutory consultation.
