Fly-posting is the display of advertising materials on buildings or street furniture (for example litter bins and lamp posts) without permission from the owner.
Fly-posting is a crime: a court can apply a large fine for fly-posting and the council can impose an £80 fixed penalty.
We will act where fly-posting is on the public highway or council property.
If the fly-posting is on railway property please contact Network Rail's National Helpline: 08457 11 4141
If the fly-posting is on Circle Housing property please report it by telephone: 0300 500 3000.
Removal of fly-posting
We will remove fly-posting from council property and public highways.
It is the responsibility of the property owner to remove items fixed to private property. This includes telephone boxes, bus shelters and Royal Mail post boxes
