Our overall aim is to ensure the creation of sustainable, efficient and high quality design of the urban environment. We aim to conserve and where appropriate enhance Merton's heritage assets and distinctive character.

D12.10Dwelling conversionsThis policy aims to protect the number of family-size dwellings in the borough whilst allowing appropriate dwelling conversions.
D12.11Basements and subterranean design This policy aims to ensure that basement and subterranean developments do not cause harm to the built and natural environment, local amenity and do not result in increasing flooding or ground instability issues.
