Please contact us as soon as possible if you have difficulty making payments. We will try to help if we can. Please do not ignore the notices we send you, as it will only make matters worse.
Council Tax Support
If you’re on a low income or receiving certain benefits, you may be able to claim Council Tax Support. This means you will have to pay less Council Tax, or none at all.
Pay in more instalments
If you currently pay in 10 monthly instalments each year, you can request to pay in 12 instalments.

Get support from Citizen's Advice
Citizen’s Advice Merton and Lambeth run debt clinics where you can:
- speak to an independent legal debt advisor
- clear up any concerns you have about your account
- agree a Council Tax payment plan at a rate you can afford
- arrange for Citizen's Advice to discuss this with Merton Council Tax officers on your behalf
