Event Description
Merton Council is holding a street festival on Abbotsbury Road in Morden to celebrate World Car Free Day on Sunday 22 September from 11am- 4.30pm.

The road will be closed to create a space for activities and entertainment suitable for all ages - so bring the whole family and join in the fun!

Plus, we’ll be asking visitors to tell us how they would like to brighten up and refresh Morden as part of our work to improve the area.

Here are some of the fantastic, free activities you and your family can enjoy on the day:

Bouncy castle
Music from Flex FM Radio
Face painting
Badge making
Complimentary popcorn and candy floss
Sand art
Sport and games such Ping Pong and a boxing taster session (from 12-2pm)
Blend your own smoothie using a pedal bike
Information stalls from community organisations and council teams
Plus, get a free bike safety check with Dr Bike

World Car Free Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate our community and bring people together to enjoy their streets without cars. The day highlights alternative modes of travel, such as cycling, walking and public transport to support the local environment.

Abbotsbury Road along the shopping parade will be closed to cars to create room for people to enjoy activities, socialise, discover and play – all themed around improving the climate and building healthier, active lifestyles.

Mark your diaries for the World Car Free Day Street Festival. It’s an event not to be missed!
