Update 20 May 2016

Following Cabinet Member approval to proceed with implementation of the CW2 CPZ, street works are scheduled to commence from 6 June 2016 for a period of 1 week, weather permitting. Work will be carried out between 8am and 4.30pm. To allow the works to be carried out as quickly as possible, temporary parking restrictions may be introduced, although parking" cones and signs will be in place to indicate the areas where parking would be prohibited. By doing so, this will keep the roads free of parked vehicles allowing a smooth transition of the works. Vehicles would be allowed back onto the road once the lining work is complete or after the working day.
Notices and cones will be placed in your road 12-48 hours prior to work being undertaken.

The CW2 CPZ is scheduled to come into operation on 11 July 2016.

Update 20 April 2016

Following the statutory consultation that took place in December 2015, the results and feedback from the community were reported to the Cabinet Member for Environment Sustainability and Regeneration. Approval has been given to proceed with implementation of the CW2 CPZ to include Valley Gardens, North Gardens and South Gardens with the anticipated operational start date of 11 July 2016. For further information see the link below for the Cabinet Member decision sheet and for detailed information to the result of the statutory consultation please see the link to the Cabinet Member report.

Update 4 December 2015

The Council is now carrying out a statutory consultation on its intention to make changes to the operating days, times and zone boundary of Valley Gardens, North Gardens and South Gardens in the existing CW CPZ.

Proposed changes

  • To remove Valley Gardens, North Road and South Gardens from the CW CPZ and create a stand alone CPZ. The new CPZ will be known as CW2.
  • The proposed operating days and times of the new zone would be Monday to Saturday between 8.30am and 6.30pm.
  • The operating days and times of the single yellow lines in the these roads would also be extended to operate Monday to Saturday, between 8.30am and 6.30pm.

The proposed changes will prevent permit holders to park in CW2 but it also means that CW2 permit holders will not be able to park in CW zone. The removal of CW permit holders will improve parking conditions for the proposed CW2 permit holders. Permits issued to residents and businesses in Christchurch Road will not be valid in the new zone.
