Review of Parking Restrictions - June 2009

As a result of views received from local ward members, the Council is carrying out a review of the existing parking control measures along Coombe Lane, Lambton Road & Worple Road, Raynes Park.

To enable effective enforcement of the controls, it is essential to ensure that all the restrictions comply with the Department for Transport's regulations. This means that all designated on-street parking bays and yellow lines must be correctly and clearly marked and signed. In this case signage may require necessary updating and relocating where appropriate.

Proposed changes

The following changes are proposed as shown on the drawing in the linked newsletter below.

  • To extend the free parking places in Lambton Road and Worple Road, where appropriate and without compromising safety and access, to provide additional parking spaces.
  • Other changes will include extending the maximum stay in both the free parking places and pay & display bays in Worple Road, from 1 hour to 2 hours.

What happens next

A Notice of the Council's intentions to make the relevant Traffic Management Orders (TMOs) for the required changes will be published in the local newspaper, London Gazette and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity. Representations for and against must be done in writing to the Head of Street Scene and Waste Management Division, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX by no later than 17 July 2009, quoting reference ES/SGE/Coombe Review.

At the conclusion of this statutory consultation a decision will be made on whether or not to proceed with making these changes. Please note that responses to any representations received will not be made until the final decision is made.
