Volunteer scheme (age 15-17)

Perhaps you’re interested in working in the watersports industry? Maybe you’re looking to do some volunteering? Or maybe you just want something to do this summer? Come and make new friends and learn lots of new skills both on and off the water!

Work experience (age 15-21 must be in education)

Wanting to gain experience working in the outdoors? Are you enthusiastic and hardworking? Have a willingness to work with children?

If so work experience at Wimbledon Park Watersports Centre could be a good fit for you.

Availability

Only offered in summer term April-June (limited dates in July) and early Autumn term September-October when we have sufficient capacity.

Prerequisites

  • You must be prepared to work in outdoor conditions, main activities involve paddling on the lake.
  • Age 15-21 (if you are 18 or over you must have an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service)).
  • Must be in education.
  • Must organise to come in for an interview/induction, including a wet capsize minimum 3 weeks prior to start date.

Seasonal pool of staff (age 16+)

We are always looking for enthusiastic, confident qualified sailors and paddlers to join our pool of staff.

Work opportunities are available during term time, evenings, weekends and school holidays.

Staffing for the school holidays is usually done in February – April.

To be added to our pool of staff and to be paid accordingly you must be at least 16 years old and a qualified Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Sailing Instructor and or British Canoeing (BC) Paddling Instructor/Coach as a minimum.

Fixed term seasonal contracts (age 18+)

RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor, preferably with some paddling experience (BC Instructor/Coach qualified) and RYA Powerboat Instructor.

Duration: TBC usually 7-9 month contracts

Applications window: TBC usually September-October

Interview: TBC usually in person in November

Start date: TBC usually February or early March

Driving

Sat nav post code SW18 5NW takes you to McCluskey's newsagents, on the corner of Revelstoke Road and Elsenham Street, just outside the park.

There is a small car park by Revelstoke Road, but it is often full and parking charges apply.

Free car parking is also available at the Wimbledon Park Road entrance (sat nav SW19 6PE). It is a slightly longer walk across the grass to the Watersports Centre.

During the Wimbledon Tennis Championships there is no vehicle access to Wimbledon Park for dropping off and collecting. These parking restrictions may be enforced before the start and after the end date of the championships. Please check the All England Lawn Tennis website  for specific traffic restrictions.
