Update - 2 November 2007

Merton Council sent a consultation document to local residents with information regarding proposals to introduce footway parking along the southern section of Haydon's Road. The consultation also included details of minor highway improvements which will assist in reducing congestion and improving traffic flow.

The consultation period for this scheme closed on 23 November 2007.

The decision on whether or not to proceed with a formal consultation on the proposals, is subject to the responses received during this consultation.

We regret that due to the number of responses received during a public consultation it will not be possible to individually reply to each respondent. We welcome your comments on this proposal, which will be noted and included within the proposed measures where appropriate.

Update - 02 March 2007

The Report was submitted to the Street Management Advisory Committee and the Cabinet Member on 15 February 2007. The Cabinet Member has approved to the making of the traffic order on the proposed measures. Please click here to view a copy of the Decision.

Update - 18 January 2007

The results of the formal consultation carried out in October 2006 were reported to the Street Management Advisory Committee and the Cabinet Member on 15  January 2007. A decision was made to defer the report to the Committee meeting on 15 February 2006.

Update 12 October 2006 - Formal Consultation

The formal consultation carried out in February/March 2006 resulted in a number of objections to certain aspects of the proposed measures. After considering the objections and taking residents' views into account, the initial proposals have been amended. There were also some design errors that had to be rectified.

The results were reported to the Advisory Street Management Committee on 11September 2006. The Cabinet Member made a decision to further formally consult on the amendments.

The result of the informal consultation was reported to the Cabinet Street Management on 6 December 2005. At that meeting it was agreed to undertake a formal consultation

  • on amending the existing single yellow line restrictions on Haydon's Road; Cowper Road; Milton Road; Dryden Road and Tennyson Road and to allow parking
  • on the introduction of double yellow lines (junction protection) at all the identified junctions along Haydon's Road and other key locations between Gap Road and Merton High Street
  • on the inclusion of the properties on Haydon's Road's east side between Cowper Road and Caxton Road (Nos. 189 to 317 Haydon's Road) with the Controlled Parking Zone 3E and to introduce additional bays
  • to replace some of the yellow line restrictions with free parking bays on Haydon's Road's east side between North Road and Merton High Street between Nos. 29 and 51; between 55 and 77; 83 and 102 Haydon's Road; outside No 117 (Public House) Haydon's Road
  • to introduce additional parking bays in Zone S2
  • to introduce pay and display bays and shared use bays to Zone 3F
  • Free Parking Bays with a 1 hour maximum stay and no return within one hour outside Nos. 341 - 347; 321 - 333; No. 286 - 294 Haydon's Road

It is proposed to undertake the formal consultation in January 2006. A formal consultation document will be delivered to all the premises within the consultation area.
