Update August 2017 – CPZ scheme implementation

Following the Council's decisions to introduce the MP2 CPZ in the Cannon Hill Lane area, the works will take place from 24 July for a period of 2 weeks. The new CPZ is scheduled to come into operation on Tuesday 29 August 2017.

 

Cabinet Member Approval and Implementation 15 June 2017

Following the statutory consultation, the feedback from the community was reported to the Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Housing in May 2017. Approval has been given to proceed with implementation of the MP2 CPZ with the anticipated operational start of 29 July 2017. A newsletter will be distributed shortly to all properties in the boundary of the proposed CPZ to update them of the decision and to notify of the next stage with regards to implementation of signs and lining street works for the CPZ. The Council's parking enforcement team will shortly be distributing to properties within the scheme an information pack, including parking permit application forms.

 

Statutory Consultation 9 February - 10 March 2017

The Council is carrying out a statutory consultation on its intention to introduce a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) to the Cannon Hill Lane area to include Bakers End, Cleveland Avenue, Cannon Hill Lane (between Kingston Road and the railway bridge), Kingston Road (between even Nos.250 - 274a) and Manor Road.

Representations in regards to the proposals described in this Notice must be made by email to trafficandhighways@merton.gov.uk
or in writing to Future Merton (Traffic and Highways Team 9th Floor), Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX.
Representations must reach the Council by no later than 10 March 2017 quoting reference ES/MP2. Objections must relate only to the elements of the scheme that are subject to this statutory consultation.

 

Update 8 December 2016

Following the informal consultation that took place in September - October 2016, the results and feedback from the community were reported to the Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Environment and Housing. Giving consideration to the results of consultation;

  • Approval has been given to proceed with statutory consultation for a proposed MP2 CPZ to include Bakers End, Cleveland Avenue, Cannon Hill Lane (between Kingston Road and the railway bridge), Kingston Road (between even Nos.250 - 274a) and Manor Road
  • Approval to proceed with a statutory consultation to included Leafield Road into the existing MP1 CPZ.
  • Approval to not proceed with statutory consultation for the introduction of a CPZ in Aylward Road, Hadleigh Close, Manor Gardens and Watery Lane.

Informal consultation 22 September 2016

In response to representations received from residents of Cannon Hill Lane and surrounding area of Merton Park, experiencing parking difficulties in their roads, the Council is proposing to introduce a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ). In anticipation of the likely parking displacement into further surrounding roads; Aylward Road, Leafield Road, Hadleigh Close, Bakers End, Cleveland Avenue, Manor Road, Manor Gardens and Watery Lane are being included into the consultation to give residents in these roads an opportunity to express their views.

The Council is seeking the views of the community for a proposed CPZ in the Cannon Hill Lane area of Merton Park. The decision on whether or not to proceed with the next stage, which would involve a statutory consultation on the proposal, will be subject to the responses received during this informal consultation. It is envisaged that the results of the consultation along with officers' recommendations will be presented in a report to the Cabinet Member for Environment, Regeneration and Housing. Once a decision is made you will be informed accordingly.
