Temporary changes to planning and licensing procedures became law in 2020. Pavement licences introduced a fast-track process to make it easier for premises serving food and drink to seat and serve customers as lockdown restrictions were lifted and social distancing guidelines remained in place.

On 1 April 2024 these regulations were made permanent. We are currently updating our procedures and policy in relation to this. At present we are operating under the new extended consultation timescales which allow for a maximum 28 days for the process to be completed.
