Consultation January 2014

We are carrying out a consultation on its intension to make changes to the parking restrictions in Kingston Road outside the shopping parade, between properties no 80 and 110 Kingston Road (South Wimbledon). This is as a result of numerous requests from the businesses and subsequent meetings attended by businesses, the Cabinet Member and Council officer.

Proposals

It is proposed to provide partial footway parking between properties no 80 and 110 Kingston Road. The hours of operation of the Pay & Display bays in Kingston Road Monday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm with 20 minutes free and a maximum stay of two hours, no return within one hour. The hourly tariff in Kingston Road will be £1.10 per hour. Due to nature and classification of Kingston Road, parking and loading can only be permitted during the hours of 10am and 4pm. The 20 minutes free will encourage a higher turnover, which would mean more custom to local businesses. The cycle stands within the proposed bay area will be removed.

What happens next

A Notice of our intentions to introduce the above measures will be published in the local newspaper, London Gazette and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity.
Representations for and against the proposals described in this Notice must be made in writing to the Head of Street Scene and Waste, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX or email trafficandhighways@merton.gov.uk by no later than 7 February 2014, quoting reference ES/SGE/KINGSTONRDSW.

All representations along with Officers' comments and recommendations will be reported to the Cabinet Member for Environmental Sustainability and Regeneration for a decision.
