Update 25 July 2023

Following the cabinet Member decision to implement the reduced parking restrictions, it has been decided to reconsider our decision and undertake a further statutory consultation. The statutory consultation will be carried out in due course.

Decision 26 April 2023

Following the statutory consultation carried out between 16 January and 17 February 2023, the feedback from the community was reported to the Cabinet Member for Transport. Approval has been given to proceed with implementation of the no waiting restrictions Monday-Sunday, between 8.00am and 6.00pm including loading restrictions on the north side of the road for the same time periods in Kingston Road. A newsletter will be distributed shortly to all properties in the consultation catchment to update of the decision and to notify of the next stage with regards to the scheme's implementation.

January 2023 update

We introduce traffic and parking management schemes to solve problems relating to safety, parking, the environment, damage to structures and the movement of traffic. We also aim to promote cycling, walking and use of public transport, and to bring benefits to all members of the community.

We consult with the public on many proposed traffic and parking management schemes. You usually have three weeks to object, starting from the date we publish a draft "traffic management order" (TMO). A Notice of our intention to introduce the above measures will be published in a local newspaper (Wimbledon and Wandsworth Times), London Gazette and posted on lamp columns in the vicinity. Representations against the proposals described in this Notice must be made no later than 17 February 2023 quoting reference ES/KINGSTON. Objections must relate only to the elements of the scheme that are subject to this statutory consultation by emailing trafficandhighways@merton.gov.uk  or letter to Environment & Regeneration Department, future Merton, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden, Surrey, SM4 5DX.
