Update September 2016

After the council’s decision to introduce the proposed parking management scheme in Deer Park Road, it is scheduled that the street works will start in week commencing Monday 26 September 2016 for five days, weather permitting. Work will be carried out between 8am and 4.30pm.

To allow the works to be carried out as quickly as possible, temporary parking restrictions will be introduced. 'No Parking' cones and signs will be in place to indicate the areas where parking is prohibited. This will keep the roads free of parked vehicles allowing a smooth transition of the works.

Vehicles will be allowed back into the road once the lining work is complete or after the working day. Owners of offending vehicles run the risk of receiving a fine and vehicles may be moved. Residents will be allowed to park in the completed bays during the implementation work. Notices and cones will be placed in the road 12-48hrs prior to work starting.

The council is conscious of the inconvenience and the disruption that this work may cause and will endeavour to keep the impact to a minimum. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused by these works.

Deer Park Road parking management statutory consultation report

Statutory consultation, 12 May 2016

We want to restrict parking on Deer Park Road for people living in the borough because they have been using the road for long-term parking. Some people have also been setting up homes on the highway.

Only businesses and visitors to the business estate will be allowed to park in Deer Park Road.

Proposed measures

We want to introduce parking restrictions to the road to address:

  • overnight parking
  • parking on double yellow lines on corners
  • parking across dropped kerbs

We will provide free parking places for the community including a motorcycle parking bay.

The proposal also includes:

  • a pay and display parking, Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 6.30pm
  • a single yellow line through the free parking bays
  • a single yellow line through the pay and display bays

The parking, pay and display bays and motorcycle parking bay that will run Monday - Sunday, 10pm - 5am.

Why we're carrying out the consultation

We are carrying out the consultation to make sure drivers are given a chance to give their views on parking proposals.
