This page lists the evidence documents you will need to send us as part of your permit application.

You can also email a copy of your proof to parkingpermits@merton.gov.uk, or post it to the address below, quoting your application number, if you have one.

Please send photocopies of your proof, original documents are not required.

Accepted documents

Proof of residency

If you have stated on your application that you are on the electoral register, or have previously purchased permits at your current address, you do not need to provide proof of residency.

If you need to provide proof of residency, you must provide a copy of a tenancy or lease agreement or solicitor's letter confirming exchange, or any 2 of the following:

  • recent utility or council tax bill
  • benefit book
  • driving licence
  • vehicle registration document

Proof of vehicle ownership

You must provide a copy of any one of the following:

  • vehicle registration document
  • hire or lease agreement
  • insurance certificate
  • sales invoice

Proof of company address

You must provide a copy of any one of the following:

  • certificate of incorporation
  • business rates bill
  • property lease agreement
  • proof of purchase

Business permit applicants must also provide, on headed paper, a letter confirming that the permit is essential for the running of the business.
