We provide specialist equipment and adaptations to help people with a physical disability stay independent in their own homes and in everyday life.
Simple aids to daily living, such as toileting and bathing equipment and grab rails, are available to purchase directly from accredited retailers throughout the borough. The Council may cover the cost of these items for some customers, depending on their circumstances and level of need.
We will always look at the most cost-effective solution for the problem. For example, if a person cannot manage to get in or out of the bath safely, providing basic equipment may be all that is required to help the individual regain their independence. There is often no need for complex, lengthy and disruptive alterations such as the installation of a shower.
