A personal assistant is someone who is employed to assist adults with support and care needs to live their lives more independently. Personal assistants may offer personal, domestic, social or administrative support.

We understand that it can be difficult to find the right people to support you and that there is a growing demand for personal assistants. To make this easier we have developed a database of personal assistants which can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

Are you an extraordinary person, who wants to support other people?

If you are and are available to work for one or more hours per week with people of all ages and backgrounds, then why not join Merton's Personal Assistant Database?

The database holds details of suitable personal assistants for Direct Payment customers to recruit from. The role of a personal assistant depends upon the specific needs of the person employing them; you may be involved in personal, domestic, social or administrative support.

Formal qualifications are not usually necessary, but a flexible and friendly attitude is a must. The hours vary depending on the person you are working for. You may be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and an interview before being recruited as a personal assistant. Potential employers will ask for evidence of your right to work in the UK and also references.

Please click on the link below and enter your details into the database. Once you have registered your details please follow the instructions and complete all of the following sections. It is important that you complete the application form fully giving as much information as possible to ensure the customer has a good idea of your experiences and attributes.
