Safer Merton is a community safety partnership aimed at reducing crime and anti-social behaviour in Merton. It’s made up of statutory agencies in Merton who work together to develop and implement strategies to tackle crime and disorder. The agencies are:

Community safety team

Our priorities for 2019/20 as set out in the annual Strategic Assessment are:

The community safety team manages the current strategic priorities of the partnership and works with the police and other agencies to reduce actual crime.

Anti-social behaviour team

The anti-social behaviour team works with the police, residents and partners to use all the tools and powers available to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Our team address all ASB matters excluding those in social housing.

CCTV team

We use CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) to monitor the borough in order to detect and prevent crime as well as to make sure that the public feels safe. We have over 200 cameras in the borough with the majority located in the town centres..

Fire brigade team

The fire brigade team aims a reducing the number of fires and fire service related calls. They give advice to the community on fire safety and supervise fire safety inspection work.

Police

Merton has 20 safer neighbourhood teams. The officers in these teams patrol the neighbourhood, meet the community and identify and deal with any crimes and issues that arise.

Integrated Offender Management (IOM)

Integrated Offender Management (IOM) brings together partners to address reoffending by the most persistent and problematic offenders on the borough.

Neighbourhood Watch

Merton Neighbourhood Watch is managed by the Merton Neighbourhood Watch Association. Initially set up to tackle burglary, it now covers a whole range of crime and anti-social behaviour as well as helping to build a sense of neighbourhood.

Victim Support

Victim Support provides support for victims of domestic and sexual violence and abuse, through the Independent Domestic Violence Advocate Service (IDVA's). For more information please visit our Domestic Violence page.
