Generating your own energy
Generating your own energy can help to increase your energy independence, cut your energy costs and reduce your impact on the environment. Technologies such as solar panels and wind turbines use natural, renewable sources of energy, like the sun and wind. This has a much lower carbon footprint than energy produced from fossil fuels (oil, coal and gas) and can help reduce your electricity bills.
Solar Together London – Phase 3 now open
Following two successful schemes last year Merton is again working in partnership with the Mayor of London on the innovative new scheme offering high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) panels.
Solar Together brings together households and local government to get high quality solar panels at a highly competitive price. As a Merton resident you can register your interest in having solar panels installed on your home though the scheme.
Register on the Solar Together website before 21 October 2019 to take part.
How does it work?
Registration: you register for free before
21 October. You need to tell us details of your roof, like its size and position. The more people that register, the better the deal for each household. Registration does not commit you to anything.
Auction: On 22 October an auction will be held where pre-vetted installers submit their lowest prices.
Your personalised offer: from
11 November you will be contacted with a personalised offer, based on the specifications of your roof. This includes your costs and specification of your solar panel installation.
You decide: the decision is then yours as to whether you want to accept your offer. There is no obligation to continue. You will have until 10 December to decide.
Installation: if you accept the offer, the winning supplier will contact you to schedule a survey of your roof and set an installation date. All installations will be completed by March 2020.
