Watersports for schools and voluntary organisations

Whether it be a fun taster session, team building or to gain a National Governing Body qualification we have can create a bespoke session for you.

Watersports price per 8 per hour

  • Cost: £78 per 8 participants, per hour
  • Minimum 8 participants (for bookings between 9am - 4pm)
  • Maximum 24 (please contact the Centre if you have larger numbers)
    • Watersports experience with an instructor
    • A gentle way of learning the basics of paddling in a range of crafts appropriate to the weather conditions
    • Can include Kiwis, Kayaks, Bellboats, Canadian canoes and Raft building (basic Funboat sailing)

Group - Sailing price per 6 per hour

  • Cost: £88 per 6 participants per hour
  • Minimum 6 participants (for bookings between 9am – 4pm)
  • Maximum 24 (please contact the Centre if you have larger numbers)
    • Sailing experience with an instructor
    • An excellent opportunity to get afloat and build confidence and to work through the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) levels to learn and improve your skills.
    • In boats appropriate to the weather conditions, could include, either double handed boats such as a Topper Argo's, Wayfarer or Laser 2000 with the instructor on board and / or single handed boats such as Laser Pico's or Topper Topaz's.
    • For those with limited mobility the Access Dinghies can be used.

  • All participants on the water must have reached their 8th birthday

Times we offer (minimum participants apply)

Weekday bookings

  • From 9am and end by 4.30pm
  • February – December
  • Monday - Friday
  • Minimum charge
    • Group of 8 watersports (maximum 24)
    • Group of 6 sailing (maximum 24)

Day bookings

  • From 9.15am – end by 4pm
  • Any booking of 2.5 hours or more that span over the lunchtime slot of 12.45-1.15 will be charged the day rate
  • April – June and September – October
  • Monday – Friday only
  • Minimum day rate is £832 (up to 16 participants)
    • £52 per participant there after (maximum group size 30)

Evening bookings

  • From 4.30pm and must end by 8.30pm (daylight permitting)
  • March – September
  • Monday – Thursday only
  • Minimum charge
    • Group of 16 watersports (maximum 24)
    • Group of 12 sailing (maximum 24)

Weekend bookings

  • From 10pm – 12.30pm
  • Saturdays only
  • April – June and September – October
  • Minimum charge
    • Group of 16 watersports (maximum 24)
    • Group of 12 sailing (maximum 24)  

What to bring and further information

  • Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your scheduled session time, registration will take place outside of the centre.

  • Please check the weather before booking/attending
  • At least two changes of clothes (including underwear and shoes) suitable for the weather conditions (no jeans), include a waterproof jacket and hat
  • Old trainers needed for the water (something secure, not crocs, flip flops or wellington boots)
  • Towel and Sun protection
  • All participants need to arrive ready changed in suitable clothes for the weather conditions, having already visited the toilet and washed their hands. The toilets in the Watersports Centre building will only be available for participants at the end of their sessions.

  • If you are attending for a full day, bring a packed lunch and plenty of drinks and snacks (under 18s are not allowed offsite during the course to buy lunch).

  • Separate male and female changing rooms are available for all participants at the end of the session

  •  We do not provide wetsuits, feel free to wear your own (most activities do not involve being in the water, so it is not mandatory ......... unless your doing windsurfing).

  • Only the participant (and guardian(s) for those under 18) can enter the Watersports Centre operational area, all spectators are welcome to watch from the public benches.

  • The centre reserves the right to alter the activity based on weather or safety concerns on the day.

  • It is the participants responsibility if they have been in contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case to self-isolate as recommended by the government, current guidance.

  • We have undertaken new protocols to mitigate the risks of Covid-19 at the Centre, but all participants (and guardians or bookers for those under 18) must take responsibility for the decision to take on the risk of attending.

Driving

Sat nav post code SW18 5NW takes you to McCluskey's newsagents, on the corner of Revelstoke Road and Elsenham Street, just outside the park.

There is a small pay-and-display car park by Revelstoke Road, but it is often full.

Free car parking is also available at the Wimbledon Park Road entrance (sat nav SW19 6PE). It is a slightly longer walk across the grass to the Watersports Centre.

During the Wimbledon Tennis Championships there is no vehicle access to Wimbledon Park for dropping off and collecting. These parking restrictions may be enforced before the start and after the end date of the championships. Please check the All England Lawn Tennis website for specific traffic restrictions.
