Our translation service provides language services in more than 80 languages and local dialects, including British Sign Language.
We will be happy to advise you on any matter relating to interpreting/translating, offer specialist guidance on the translation of publications and training on how to work with interpreters etc. For any queries or advice, please contact the Translation Service manager.
Our interpreters are experienced, trained professionals with excellent cross-cultural communication skills. All interpreting sessions are treated as confidential and all our interpreters abide by the Merton Translation Service code of conduct.
All documents are translated by experienced professionals and are treated as confidential. All translated material is word-processed and we try to accommodate any formatting request you might have.
We offer text transcription services (i.e. transcription of printed information on to Braille, audio-tape, or diskette). We can also provide information on video, DVD or CD-ROM format.
Please note that this service is recommended only for urgent cases, when there is no time for an interpreter to be physically present. Telephone interpreting does not involve our interpreters calling your clients on their own - you have to lead the three-way conversation.
Merton Adult Education offers courses where students can learn English and take nationally recognised qualifications in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Further details of ESOL are available from Merton Adult Education
Merton Translation Service is part of the Customer Services and Development Department of the London Borough of Merton. Our central administrative team works with a pool of 200 sessional interpreters/ translators. This structure gives us the flexibility to respond to any change in language demands.

Our office hours are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. All other times or when all our lines are busy, you can leave a message on our answering machine and we will call you back as soon as possible.
Please note that our interpreters will work outside office hours and weekends.
