Come and celebrate Morden Tube station’s 100th birthday with a vibrant line-up of activities, including live music, poetry, an exhibition of artworks and heritage photography, and a chance to hear reflections from former station staff.
The exhibition brings together local artists across generations and showcases multi-media works inspired by the local area including prints of the tube station and Morden Hall Park, dynamic creations from local street artists, and displays of authentic Victorian finds uncovered nearby by a local mudlarker! You can also see photography of Morden Tube station from the archives, and the works of a young artist, Alex, whose detailed drawings of tube carriages and stations capture the magic of the Underground.
Nearby at Morden Library, you can explore archive photography and film, enjoy a guided walk or take part in talks and children’s activities to mark the day's celebrations.
Morden Tube station is one of seven Underground stations which opened in 1926 as part of the Northern Line extension. The station was designed by renowned architect Charles Holden and is an iconic feature in the town centre.
The celebration is also part of London’s Open House Festival. Pick up a clue pack from Morden Tube station from 11am and take part in a treasure hunt along the Northern Line extension finishing at Clapham South.
