​This service is available for British citizenship application forms completed online and also allows applicants to use the joint citizenship and passport application process. This service also allows you to keep your passport and original documents, so you can travel while your application is being considered by the Home Office. Please note we do not check your application or supporting documents. 

How it works

  1. We photocopy your passport and other documents, and certify them.
  2. We return your passport and original documents to you.
  3. We send the application by special delivery and give you a tracking reference number so you can track your application through Royal Mail.

Joint Citizenship and Passport Service (JCAP)

This service allows you to apply for your British Passport at the same time as applying for British Citizenship. It costs an additional £10.00 to the Nationality Checking Service and is conducted at the same time.

If your application for citizenship is successful, your British passport will be posted to your home after you have attended your citizenship ceremony.

You will need to bring a completed standard Brtiish passport application form, available at the Post Office and here at Merton Register Office. Please ensure:

  • the you complete sections 1, 2, 3, 4 (grandparents details are not required), 6 (if applicable) and 9 of the form;

  • the payment mandate on page 25 of the guidance booklet and

  • provide 2 photographs to identical to the photograph you provide for the naturalization form.
