The Civil Partnership Act 2004 came into operation on 5 December 2005 and enables a same-sex couple to register as civil partners of each other.
A civil partnership can take place at a register office or at a building approved for civil partnership.

It is a legal requirement to give notice of a civil partnership. Once given, the notice is publicised by the Register Office for fifteen clear days and is valid for up to 12 months. Appointments are available at Merton Register Office from Monday to Friday between 9.30am - 4.00pm.
Fees for giving Notice
Standard hours fee per notice: £35.00 or £47.00
Out of hours supplement fee per notice: £10.00

Bookings for civil partnership ceremonies at
Merton Register Office can be made up to one year in advance. To secure the date and time you require you can either book in person or telephone the Merton Register Office.
A marquee with catering is available in the grounds of Morden Park House. This is exclusively available through
Ground Control Marquees (Ground Control website) following the final ceremony of the day.
Monday to Friday 9.00am - 4.30pm, except for the third Thursday of every month when the office closes at 12.30pm.
The office will be closing at 2.00pm on Thursday 1st March 2018
Saturday and Sunday some services are available by appointment only.
