Drive 4life: driving skills for over-55s

Drivers aged 55 years and over are more experienced and knowledgeable than many younger drivers. But as you get older you may have problems with your eyesight and mobility. You may feel more challenged by busy roads, especially if you are returning to driving after a long break. Merton Council is offering a free half day course for drivers aged 55 years and over who feel they would benefit from an assessment of their driving skills. Do you wish a highly qualified trainer could sit with you and help you feel more confident about certain aspects of your driving? Then Drive 4life is the course for you.

Course details

The aim of this course will be for drivers to :

  • address aspects of their driving which may need some help
  • discuss ways of driving safely and confidently on road
  • discuss the hazards and problems older drivers face
  • take part in a driving assessment with an experienced driving instructor in your own car

The 3 hour session consists of a theory presentation on hazards and area's of concern for the older driver, followed by a practical and confidential driving assessment in your own car with an Advanced Driving Instructor from a local driving school. Free refreshments are provided plus various motoring resources to aid your driving. This is a relaxed and informative day, and your practical driving assessment is totally confidential.

Courses are run throughout the year so contact us to find out date of next session. We always get a positive feedback from those who attended previous sessions so come along and see how we can help you!
