Children’s cycle training and holiday courses

We offer free cycle training courses for children in Year 5 (off road), and Year 6 onwards (on road) who attend Merton schools, plus public training courses for children aged ten to eighteen years during the Easter and summer holidays. Training is provided by accredited trainers through Cycle Confident. Further information on how to register for courses can be found on the Cycle Confident website.

Cycling courses for schools

All schools interested in booking cycle training sessions should access the Cycle Confident website where they can book courses. Both off and on road sessions, with a range of dates and times are offered on the website.

Off road training is playground based, and for on road training children are taught to cycle on public roads

Children's understanding is checked at each stage and trainers use a combination of formal instruction and appropriate 'games', where children can practice their new skills.

Each child receives certificate of course attendance.

On-road course for schools

The on-road course runs for two hours each day over five days and is for children who have already attended an 'off road' course or children who are confident cyclists.

At the end of the course children receive a certificate of attendance.

Public holiday courses

On road training is also provided during Easter and Summer holidays. Please register on the Cycle Confident website
