You may apply for the FREE learning provision in this programme if:
This year's expanded programme has been designed specifically for Care Workers and Managers who provide social care services to the Merton Community.
Your work may support local people with mental health needs, learning or physical disability, or other adult care needs. The specialist events in this programme aim to support your continued development to enable you to deliver the care and empowerment that Service Users require.
These learning initiatives also give you the opportunity to network with other people who do similar work in a fun and productive way. You will be able to discuss issues and share ideas in an environment where you can learn from one another.
This year, in an effort to reflect the ever changing environment in which we work, Merton Council has added further specialist training to the programme. For example, Care Workers can access training in administration of medication and managers can access training about implementation of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
We continue to work in partnership with local colleges to provide access and sponsorship for Health and Social Care NVQ's. You could be eligible for 100% funding of qualifications required for Social Care National Occupational Standards.
Funding for these training initiatives has been made available through the Department of Health's National Training Strategy Grant and Mental Health Training Grant. Please help us to publicise the opportunity of free course places by also notifying your colleagues who meet the criteria above.
We seek to continually improve our support and partnership arrangements with local service providers and invite you to submit comments about this programme and your ideas for future events. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
