Christmas tree recycling
We collect trees from the kerbside in January each year. If your tree has not been collected please call 020 8274 4902. Please place your tree at the front of your property where it can be clearly seen from the road, but not on the pavement, from 6am.
You can also take your Christmas tree to the Reuse and Recycling Centres at Garth Road and Weir Road and place them in the green waste bay for composting.
We encourage residents to buy Christmas trees with roots rather than cut trees.
We will replant as many of the trees with roots as possible. This is extremely beneficial for the environment, as the tree will absorb carbon dioxide while growing throughout the year.
The rest will be turned into chippings which will be used as a mulch to spread on the flower beds in the borough's parks. The mulch will suppress weed growth and help the soil to retain moisture.
