Reuse and recycling centre, Weir Road, Wimbledon

The Reuse and Recycling Centre at Weir Road, Wimbledon is available for Merton residents to bring reusable or recyclable household waste for reuse or recycling. Please note that vans and trailers will not be permitted entry.

We do not accept general waste or trade waste at this site. If the item is not listed below then we can not accept it at Weir Road.

Identification

You must bring proof of address (such as your driving licence, Residents Pass or recent council tax statement) to prove you are a Merton resident.

What can you recycle at the Reuse and Recycling Centre?

As a result of our contract with EWC, you can bring even more items to the centre for reuse or recycling (see items listed marked with NEW).

You can take the following items of household waste to the site:

  • Aluminium foil   NEW
  • Batteries (car batteries)
  • Batteries (small household batteries)
  • Bric a brac (including furniture and ornaments)
  • Bicycles (in suitable condition for repair)
  • Books
  • Cans (metal food and drinks cans)
  • Cardboard
  • Cartons (emptied and flattened)
  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs (household low energy bulbs)
  • Electrical Goods (including TVs, videos, PCs, Hi-Fis)
  • Furniture (suitable for reuse except beds and mattresses)
  • Glass bottles and jars (rinsed out)
  • Glass - plate/sheet glass   NEW
  • Green waste (for composting)
  • Hand tools (for reuse)   NEW
  • Hardcore/rubble and soil (small quantities)
  • Mobile phones
  • Paper (including directories)
  • Plasterboard   NEW
  • Plastic bottles (rinsed out and squashed)
  • Plastic - other (all rigid plastic items and all other plastic containers numbered 1-19 or showing the recycling triangle)...NEW  (No plastic bags/sheets/film. No PVC window frames)
  • Printer cartridges   NEW
  • Scrap metal (ferrous)
  • Scrap metal (non-ferrous)
  • Spectacles   NEW
  • Textiles and shoes
  • Video tapes   NEW
  • White goods (such as fridges/freezers and washing machines)
  • Wood and timber

If you are at all unsure which container to use, please ask a member of staff at the site who will be able to assist you.

Sunday 8am to 4pm

Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

Bank Holiday Mondays - staff work Sunday hours on Bank Holidays so the Centre is open 8am -4pm.
