Education Welfare Service

The Education Welfare service:

  • Works with children and their families to help ensure that all children of compulsory school age receive an education.
  • Works with other agencies to support families.
  • Works with schools to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence. See Attendance Guidance

We are also responsible for:

Children not collected from school

This document sets out procedures to be followed should any pupil not be collected from a school, setting or after school childcare provision at the usual times.

This policy has been agreed between Merton Council’s Children, Schools and Families Department, Merton Local Safeguarding Children Board and the Metropolitan Police.
