This information is for parents wishing to apply for a place at a community school nursery in Merton.
If you are applying for a place at any of the Voluntary Aided (Church affiliated) school nurseries, a place at one of the primary Academies (Benedict or Harris Primary Academy Merton), or a place at the new Free School (Park Community School) you must contact these directly to get their application form.
You can apply for places at these schools and also apply for a place in a Merton community nursery class.
If you provide false or deliberately misleading information whilst completing a school application this application will become invalid and it may be a criminal offence. False information will result in the withdrawal of a school place and could lead to prosecution as there may be a financial loss to Merton Council due to the expense of funding a school place for your child.
The application process for nursery places has already been completed however you can still submit a late application. Please complete the Starting Nursery School 2014/15 application form (0.1MB) and return it to either your first preference school or to School Admissions at Merton Civic Centre.

From September 2015 the way in which distances are calculated for Primary School and Nursery allocations will change - this means that all children starting Nursery or Primary School from September 2015 will be measured to a single point within each school.
We will no longer be measuring to the 'nearest school gate used for admissions purposes' but to the main entrance to the Reception/Office area. This is because it was not always clear which schools were using multiple gates or had opened new gates. Some schools use different gates for different year groups and some have gates that are only used in the lighter summer months. To have one single point in each school offers transparency to parents and therefore confidence in the admissions process.
Many parents ask us to provide distances as a guide to which schools they may be successful in securing a place at, however we will not be able to provide this information until we have finished working with the schools to update the reference points.
Please refer to this web page for confirmation that we have completed the exercise and are able to provide parents with guide distances. We intend to have this processed finished within the next few weeks and in plenty of time for the closing date of 15 January 2015.
Please note that all quoted distances will be to a different point from the one used in previous years and should be regarded as a very rough guide only.
This change is included in our admission arrangements which were subject to a consultation exercise which was completed in March 2014.
