Schools Library Service

The School Library Service is available to all LEA primary schools.

What we offer

  • A cost-effective way of ensuring your school has access to up to date books that support the primary curriculum.
  • Fiction loans once a year that can range from picture books for nursery and reception age children through to fiction suitable for Year 6 pupils.
  • Advice in areas such as stock management, library layout, stock editing and weeding.
  • A help line service by telephone, fax or email.
  • Free delivery and collection of project boxes.

What we can lend you

  • Non fiction project boxes loaned once a term, which contain up to twenty books representing a value of approximately £200 per box.
  • Fiction boxes that generally contain thirty books and are loaned for a school year, i.e. September - July.
  • A school of up to four hundred pupils can borrow up to 8 boxes per term, which represents books to the value of £1600 per term or £4800 per year.
  • A school of more than four hundred pupils can borrow up twelve boxes per term, which represents books to the value of £2400 per term or £7200 per year.
  • A project list is sent to assist teachers in their selection, although we can provide boxes to suit individual needs.
