The Centre is open from Monday to Saturday and provides the following services:

  • A local history enquiry service
  • Activities and events for all ages
  • Services for schools and adult learners
  • A sales outlet for local history books and heritage souvenirs

Education Services

  • Organised visits and tours of the Centre for school classes and community groups
  • History resource boxes can be hired for up to 3 weeks
  • Tours and project advice sessions for teaching staff
  • Provision of small-scale displays
  • Local history talks
  • Reminiscence sessions
  • Object Handling sessions

Services for Other groups

We also work with voluntary organisations and community groups to run craft workshops, themed displays, quizzes and history skills sessions designed to make history fun for all ages.

What can I do?

Volunteers:

We need people to carry out a range of activities from filing and basic research, to working with local history materials, helping with events and group visits.

If you would like to put your spare time to good use, we would be happy to hear from you.
