Merton's Heritage & Local Studies Centre is based on the second floor of Morden Library, Merton Civic Centre. This is a short walk from Morden Underground Station and the local bus terminus.
The Centre is open from Monday to Saturday and provides the following services:
We provide a changing programme of displays on the history of Merton and its people. These often feature historic documents and objects which can be handled by visitors to the Centre
We also work with voluntary organisations and community groups to run craft workshops, themed displays, quizzes and history skills sessions designed to make history fun for all ages.
We need people to carry out a range of activities from filing and basic research, to working with local history materials, helping with events and group visits.
If you would like to put your spare time to good use, we would be happy to hear from you.
If you have something interesting connected with Merton's history please contact Merton Heritage Centre loans, donations and bequests
The Local Council has already made a strong financial commitment to the Centre but additional funding could be used to extend the range of services available. If your business is based in, or associated with Merton, you can make a commitment to the local community by helping to sponsor the Merton Heritage Centre
