Course E1 - Child protection e-learning


This training package can be used as an alternative to single agency child protection training (where not available within your agency) or for refresher training.

Course Title/Versions Course Code Target Group

Awareness of child abuse and neglect

  1. Introduction -aimed at people who have occasional contact with children ( Module takes approximately 45 minutes to complete)
  2. Foundation - aimed at people who have regular contact with children (1-2 hours)
  3. Core - suitable for frontline professional who have direct contact with children (2-3 hours)
  4. Police  - based on Core version, but includes information pertinent to Police procedures (2-3 hours)
  5. Young People - based on Core version, suitable for people working with young people in secondary schools and colleges (2-3 hours)
  6. Think Safe, Be Safe, Stay Safe - suitable for 11-18 year olds to work through (1-2 hours)


Permanent Staff and Volunteers from MSCB agencies who work with or come into occasional contact with Children, Young People or Families.

Members of staff working for NHS Sutton & Merton or Epsom & St Helier NHS Trust should access the Educare e-learning package via their own L&D departments.

Course overview

This course covers a variety of child protection issues and is suitable for anyone who comes into contact with children and young people. There are 6 versions available.  It aims to inform about the various types of abuse or neglect to a child and then explain what you must do if you suspect that a child is being abused or neglected.
