Teenage pregnancy and substance misuse

We prioritise the reduction of both teenage pregnancy and substance misuse across Merton, to ensure that reductions that have been made nationally are sustained locally.

Our local joint strategy adapts the teenage pregnancy model of delivery of effective prevention and support interventions, to reduce both teenage pregnancy and substance misuse, and to support those who are affected; the participation of young people is key to this. Young people's participation

The Merton Teenage Pregnancy and Substance Misuse Partnership Board upholds the Merton Participation Promise by ensuring that young people are encouraged to participate across all areas of the strategy and related services. Merton Young Inspectors, for example, have devised their own charter for the delivery of Sex and Relationships and Drug and Alcohol Education:
