Christmas treeChristmas tree recycling

After Christmas, you can take your real Christmas tree to our reuse and recycling centre in Morden, or we can collect it for free.

Reuse and recycling centre

You can take your Christmas tree to the Garth Road Reuse and Recycling Centre, and place it in the green waste for composting.

Household collections 2016

We will collect and compost your real Christmas tree for free. Please remove any decorations and place your tree at the front edge of your property on 10 January 2016. Your tree must be placed where it can be clearly seen from the road, but not on the pavement. Trees will be collected from Monday 11 January until 24 January. If you put your tree out later than 10 January, we cannot guarantee collection.

The trees we collect are either composted or turned into chippings which will be used as a mulch to spread on flower beds.

Reduce waste: buy a tree with roots

We encourage residents to buy Christmas trees with roots rather than cut trees, as this allows them to be replanted. You could replant them in a tub or in your garden to reuse each year. This is extremely beneficial for the environment, as the tree will absorb carbon dioxide while growing throughout the year.
