Healthwatch Merton

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 replaced the previous public and patient engagement mechanism, Local Involvement Network (LINk), with a new body called Healthwatch. The Act required local authorities with adult social care responsibilities to commission a local HealthWatch from 1 April 2013.

Following an open procurement process we decided that the new Healthwatch Merton is to be run by the borough's award-winning Merton Voluntary Service Council (MVSC). We awarded the Healthwatch Merton contract to MVSC because of their excellent knowledge of Merton and strong record of engaging with the many diverse communities. Their experience and knowledge about health and social care services working within Merton is also another strong quality.
