
Merton's LGBT forum meets every 3 months and provides a platform for LGBT people to engage with the council and other relevant agencies on matters of interest or concern to them. The forum is open to LGBT people who live, work, or spend time in Merton and seeks to provide support, better dialogue between stakeholders and increased community awareness of LGBT issues.

The community discussed the future of Merton's LGBT Forum.
Merton LGBT Forum welcomed the Chief Executive from Age Concern and co-ordinators from the Opening Doors Project to talk about services available for older LGBT residents. This was followed by a discussion around how services for older LGBT people could be improved in Merton

Merton LGBT Forum welcomed health care practitioners who outlined the health care services in existence for the LGBT community. This was followed by a discussion in which LGBT community members gave their views on health care services and what could be changed to improve them in Merton.

The forum welcomed members of the Police to talk about services already in existence for the LGBT community when reporting hate crime. This was followed by questions from the forum and discussion regarding what more could be done by the Council, Police and partners to encourage greater reporting of homophobic and transphobic hate crime in Merton.
Agenda 19 January 2009
The forum welcomed members of the Let Me Out Youth Group to speak about their experiences of and aspirations for services in Merton There was also a presentation from Sue Sanders, Co-Chair of Schools Out and LGBT History Month. Representatives from the Council's Youth Service, the PCT and the Police, as well as Councillor Debbie Shears, Cabinet Member for Children and Families attended.
