Merton Voluntary Service Council
Merton Voluntary Service Council (MVSC) is an independent voluntary organisation which works to support and inspire the local voluntary and community sector. We do this in a number of ways:
- Services: We offer advice, information, training and other practical support services for local voluntary and community groups.
- Development: We identify unmet needs and support the development of new and existing voluntary groups.
- Liaison: We encourage networking, co-operation and joint action among voluntary organisations and supporting links with statutory services.
- Representation: We ensure the local voluntary sector is represented to statutory agencies
- Strategic Partnerships: We enable the voluntary and community sector to engage in partnership work with other sectors.
MVSC services include:
Accountability
The community accountancy service, Accountability provides voluntary organisations with a high quality, accessible and confidential service on all financial matters, including training, one-to-one support and help in setting up financial systems
Community Engagement
MVSC supports the involvement of local voluntary and community organisations in the planning and delivery of services alongside public agencies, provides forums for organisations to work together and to represent their views, and keeps groups updated on local and national developments.
The Development Service
MVSC provides support and information to small, new and emerging groups in Merton on a wide range of issues - from setting up a new group, to fundraising or employment issues.
Partnership and Representation
MVSC facilitates and supports the representation of voluntary and community organisations on partnership and joint working bodies and is often involved in consultation with the voluntary sector and feeding their views back to appropriate agencies.
LINK Merton
MVSC hosts LINK Merton, the local involvement network which helps local communities to improve health and social care services in the borough.
Merton Connected Website
The Merton Connected Website provides news for and about the local voluntary and community sector, an events calendar, forums, online resources and a database of local groups
Play Development Project
The Play Development Project supports organisations, voluntary groups and schools with play information, advice, play training, assistance with grant applications and the development of play activities for children aged 5-13 years.
Youth Groups Development Service
The Youth Group Development Service supports the development of voluntary sector youth and community groups across Merton, assisting them to deliver a high quality service to the young people they work with.
