Limited protection from the spare room subsidy rules

On 1st April 2013, the rules on spare rooms changed and a reduction to the rent used to work out your Housing Benefit was applied your claim. This reduction was either 14% for one spare bedroom; or 25% for two or more spare bedrooms.

It has recently come to light that there is protection from the spare room subsidy rules for those claimants who fall under particular categories. Please see Benefit Changes for more details.
