Statutory consultation 23 June - 15 July 2016

Due to a history of long-term parking on The Causeway, which includes people setting up residence on the public highway, parking availability has been limited for use by the local community and visitors to Wimbledon Common.

Proposed measures

The Council is carrying out statutory consultation on its intention to introduce pay and display parking on The Causeway to promote regular turnover in available parking. Pay and display parking is proposed to operate between the hours of 8.30am to 6.30pm Mondays to Fridays with a maximum stay period of 5 hours (no return for 1 hour). The charge for parking in the parking places would be £1.20 per hour, pro rata for part of an hour with a minimum payment of 40 pence for a pay and display ticket and a 20 pence convenience fee for payment by phone.

As part of the proposals waiting restrictions operating at any time (double yellow lines) would be introduced on both sides of Cannizaro Road.

The Council carries out careful consultation to ensure that all road users are given a fair opportunity to give their views on parking proposals. To view a plan of the proposed measures and the Notice of Proposal please click the following links.
