Join five amazing musicians and famous palaeontologist Dr Jakob Vinther as they enter the multi-coloured world of the dinosaurs with soaring music, catchy songs and mind-blowing science.

Handa’s Surprise
Wednesday 22 May – Sunday 23 June

Recommended for ages 2-5



Travel to Kenya and follow in Handa’s footsteps as she journeys to see her best friend Akeyo, in the next village. Handa is taking seven delicious fruits as a surprise – but seven different animals have seven very different ideas… could you resist the sweet-smelling guava? How about a ripe red mango or a tangy purple passion fruit?

A blend of physical performance, puppetry, live music and song combine to create an intimate, magical production with audience participation. Come and share in the magical tangerine surprise!

Handa’s Surprise is aimed at ages  2 - 5. The small audience sit on cushions and mats around the stage for an intimate experience, and there is a chance to join in the dancing at the end.

This play is based on the original book Handa’s Surprise, written and illustrated by Eileen Browne. Published by Walker Books Ltd.

AFC Wimbledon's End of Season Quiz
TV quiz personality Shaun Wallace, aka ‘The Dark Destroyer’ from ITV's The Chase, will be hosting our end of season quiz.

Viticult Lounge, the Cherry Red Record Stadium
7pm - 10pm, Thursday 23 May 2024

Teams of up to 8 can compete to win great prizes.

7 rounds of general knowledge quiz questions with a special AFC Wimbledon round.

Early Bird Team Price is just £100, after 29 April team entry is £140.

There will also be an auction and a raffle on the night to help raise much needed funds for AFC Wimbledon Foundation.

Food and drinks will be available to buy from 7pm and the quiz will start at 8pm.

Blues and Roots Ensemble - Fundraising Concert
Blues and Roots Ensemble specialises in sharing the music by the great bandleader/composer, Charles Mingus, through concerts and education projects.

Led by double bassist Ed Babar from Wimbledon, the band is a diverse nonet of top international musicians from South Africa to Sicily, India to Cuba, and has quickly grown a reputation for its captivating performances, as well as new initiatives in creative teaching and outreach work.

Having sold out their Wimbledon International Music Festival concert in November 2023, the ensemble returns with a new set of music to perform, as well as taking the opportunity to highlight the latest set of education projects taking place locally.

Street Food and Mitcham Market
On Saturday 25th May, Mitcham Market Square will pilot a street food market - come along a try something new for your dinner!

The event will have food from around the world from local traders as well as some live music from a brass band. All are welcome!

The Council are piloting different events in the market square in response to the 'Mitcham Matters' public consultation where local residents expressed that they would enjoy more events in the Town Centre.

This project is supported by the Mayor of London through the Business Friendly Licensing Fund.

Family interactive theatre: Robin Hood - 29, 30 &31 May
Following on from the successful St George's Quest in 2023, local theatre company Shadow Road Productions returns with Robin Hood’s Quest in May 2024! Booking essential.

The evil Sir Guy of Gisborne has the much-loved fugitive and friend of the poor, Robin Hood - once Robin of Loxley, Earl of Huntingdon - in chains at last. It won't be long until the jealous Gisborne is finally able to put his rival to death and be rid of him forever. Unless, of course, you can work together with some of the Merry Men to save him!

This exciting adventure leads its participants – Outlaws – on a thrilling trail through the Far Side of the Rose Garden at Morden Hall Park, where they will interact with several of Robin's friends, take on challenges, and solve a variety of riddles and puzzles, gathering the equipment necessary to rescue him. Those who are victorious will be awarded a prize and thanked by Robin himself!

Please choose your preferred entry time (a new set of Outlaws are invited to begin their quest every 30 minutes, although there is no limit to the length of time you may take to complete your quest) and be sure to arrive in the Far Side of Rose Garden at the appointed hour. Robin's life hangs in the balance - good fortune to you all!

St John's May Lunchtime Concert: Elisabeth Streichert (piano)
Please join us for our May lunchtime concert at St John's, Wimbledon with Elisabeth Streichert (piano).

Generously supported by the Tertis Foundation, Elisabeth will be playing J. S. Bach's famous The Well-Tempered Clavier.

Doors open from 12.30pm for tea/coffe/homemade cake and savouries. Entry is free with a retiring collection to support St John's Music Fund.
